Matthew Wilding is new manager of Newbury Building Society's Thatcham and Hungerford branches

Matthew Wilding has joined Newbury Building Society in the role of senior branch manager, with responsibility for the operation of both the Hungerford and Thatcham branches.

Before joining Newbury Building Society in May 2022, Mr Wilding worked in a range of different management roles for various retailers, including Argos and Halfords.

He then joined the financial services sector, where he worked as a mortgage and protection adviser for five years.

When asked what attracted him to the role at Newbury Building Society, Mr Wilding said: “The Newbury has an excellent reputation within the communities it serves for the quality of customer service it provides to its members.

“Customer service has always been important to me, which is part of the reason I felt compelled to join.

“My role gives me the opportunity to interact with different customers and colleagues in two different local towns.

“I support employees both in terms of operating the branches on the front line and assisting with each team members’ individual development, which I really enjoy.

“I’m also responsible for ensuring all the society’s procedures and targets are met compliantly.

“All of this helps the society to continue to deliver fantastic customer service to its members.

“I’m really proud to be involved in supporting the communities in Hungerford and Thatcham.”
