Marino gets a seat at the top table

There has been a reshuffle on West Berkshire Council's executive committee.

Tom Marino (Con, Tilehurst and Purley) will be joining it, with responsibility for internal governance and strategic partnerships.

Mr Marino has been a Conservative ward member since 2019.

In his time on the council, Mr Marino has already served as the chairman of the governance and ethics committee, as well as being a member of the overview and scrutiny management commission and a substitute member of the health scrutiny committee.

The change to the council’s executive committee will be made by the leader at the annual meeting of council, scheduled for May 10, 2022.

“I’m delighted that Tom has accepted my invitation to join the executive as I am sure he will bring with him energy and new views which I believe are always welcome," said council leader Lynne Doherty (Con, Speen).

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank councillor Hilary Cole for her dedicated 13 years of service on the executive as she now steps back to solely focus on her ward and residents.”

Mr Marino added: “I cannot wait to get started with my portfolio and I look forward to working with my fellow executive members, and with officers, to continue to serve the residents of West Berkshire as best I can.”
