New minister for Newbury Baptist Church
Rev Tim Edworthy, aged 51, was officially welcomed as Cheap Street Church’s ministry team leader at a celebratory service on Saturday, September 8 at 3pm.
Several hundred people were expected to attend, including representatives from other Newbury churches, Newbury MP Richard Benyon and members of Mr Edworthy’s former churches.
He will hold his first official service on Sunday, September 16 at 11am.
He has been serving with the Church for 16 years, including eight years in Peterborough, where he was a founding member of Churches Together for the city and was also instrumental in setting up the Street Pastors scheme, and eight years in Hastings.
Mr Edworthy said he is looking forward to “serving God in Newbury.
“My first priority will be to get to know the church and town community, to see how Newbury Baptist Church can play our part in community life.”
Newbury Baptist Church secretary, Billy Davidson said: “We’re thrilled that Tim has accepted to lead the team here.
“We’re very excited about this new start for the community of Newbury Baptist Church.”
