Paggie’s Bar in Thatcham gets a major upgrade
A town centre bar has had a massive makeover.
Piero Pagliaroli, of Paggie’s Bar in Thatcham’s Kingsland Centre, has splashed out on a major refurbishment.
Mr Pagliaroli, pictured with his wife Debbie, has run the popular watering hole for the past 36 years.
He said: “We last redecorated five years ago, so we thought we’d do a bit extra this time.”
As well as a complete redecoration, there are new toilets, ultra HD television screens and new air conditioning.
Regulars will have noticed the photos of a newly-wed couple in pride of place on the wall.
The happy couple are Mr Pagliaroli’s late parents, Jimmy and Santina.
He said: “They worked with me full time here for a while and dad became a partner.
“I’m thinking we might look at doing some Italian food again, like my mother used to.
“Her cooking was very popular so I made sure she passed her recipes on to me.”
He added: “We’ve got plans to have a happy hour at weekends; we’ve got a late licence but we’re hoping to attract an early evening crowd.
“In the meantime I hope people enjoy the modern look we’ve aimed for.”
