New number for non-emergency police calls

The new number, 101, will come into force on Monday, November 14

THERE will be a new national single non-emergency telephone number for the police as of Monday, November 14.

The new number of 101 will replace the current 0845 8 505 505 number.

However, both numbers will run side by side until the end of March 2012.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police already use 101 for non-emergency calls.

In emergencies, people should still dial 999.
