New parking incentive for Newbury shoppers
People using Newbury's pay on foot car parks will receive discounts on purchases at several stores at Kennet Shopping
SHOPPERS at the Kennet Shopping centre in Newbury are to be offered the opportunity to park for free under a new parking initiative.
As the retail competition increases with the opening of Parkway, the shopping centre has confirmed that to encourage the use of ‘pay on foot' car parks, from Tuesday (November 1), shoppers utilising Newbury's pay on foot car parks will be entitled to receive discounts on purchases in various stores within the shopping centre.
The offer is also being extended to some retailers on Bartholomew Street and Market Place.
The shopping centre manager, Mag Williams, said that about 20 retailers in and around the Kennet Shopping centre had joined the parking scheme, with easily identifiable parking logos set to be displayed in all participating stores, alongside the criteria for receiving the discounts.
The discounts will equate to a minimum of one hour's free parking off goods directly at the till and shoppers can utilise the scheme in as many participating stores as they wish.
The car parks included in the scheme include the town's pay on foot car parks, the Kennet Centre car park, Northbrook multi-storey car park, Bear Lane and the Library.
