New PCSO for north Hants
PCSO Dan Lines is moving on this week to take up a new post as a police officer in Southampton and said he suspected it would be a slightly busier area than he was used to.
PCSO Lines, who has shared the beat managed by Pc Matt Deery, also including Ashmansworth, East Woodhay, Burghclere, Newtown, Litchfield, Ecchinswell and Sydmonton - along with an office outstationed within the grounds of Highclere Castle, for several years, added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time out here and feel privileged to have worked in such a nice area. There are many people I will miss and I want to say thanks to everyone for making my time out here so great.”
Stepping into his shoes will be PCSO Abbey Carpenter (pictured), being shown around the area this week by Pc Deery.
“Abbey is very keen as this is the first area she has worked in as a PCSO and is looking forward to meeting everybody.” said Pc Deery.
A crime summary for August issued by Pc Deery and PCSO Lines for the area of a total eight crimes, includes: one house burglary, two thefts from vehicles, one theft classed as other and four crimes classed as other.
“We are pleased to report that there have been no thefts from garages, sheds and outbuildings this month.”
“Please ensure your outbuilding is locked and secured at all times, don't give them the opportunity,” said Pc Deery, adding they were aiming to also reduce anti-social behaviour in Penwood and Bishops Green, following reports of motorcycles being ridden in wooded areas:
“Please report any anti-social behaviour by calling us on (the non-emergency telephone number) 101,” he said.
Community policing priorities for the area include: thefts from sheds and outbuildings, including metal, anti-social behaviour and speeding. The latter was enforced with hand held speed ‘gun’ devices in Ecchinswell during August, due to vehicles rat-running through the village, to avoid bridge works and associated traffic lights on the A339 in Headley.
