New site for Thatcham fireworks?

Last year’s display was held at the Memorial Playing Field after local resident Richard Garvie took over the running of the event from Thatcham Rotary Club.
Organisers had planned for a crowd of 3,000 people at the free event, but a larger venue is now being sought after more than 10,000 attended.
Following consultation on a number of sites, organisers have said that the Henwick Worthy Playing Field is the only viable site if it is to remain a free event.
They have submitted a formal application to West Berkshire Council.
A spokesperson for the event said: "It's really disappointing that we can't continue in the centre of town, but with the event being so successful last year, it would be a shame to have to introduce an admission charge.
"We will also ensure that the fair ends at an appropriate time and that inconvenience for the residents is kept to a minimum."
Discussions are said to have been positive with the grounds staff and no activity will be carried out on pitches at the field.
People can park in Thatcham or Newbury town centres where a free bus service will take them to the event. A bus will also run from Thatcham station.
