New teaching block for Kennet School?

The project is part of West Berkshire Council's Education Capital Programme which aims to improve existing and new services in the districts schools.
Kennet School was the first in Berkshire to have a Physically Disabled Resource Unit as part of its educational programme but due to increasing numbers of pupils with needs, a larger unit is needed.
The hearing Impaired unit will be brand new at the school.
Plans were approved last year for a two storey building of the same use but, Kennet School subsequently became an academy and out of direct control of the local education authority, and as a result smaller plans have been submitted.
If approved, the new building will be single story.
The building will be built on one of the school's three large tennis courts and the lost tennis court will be replaced on an area of unused school field.
Headteacher at the Stoney Lane School, Paul Dick, said: "I'm delighted to see this project coming near to fruition.
"The facility for physically disabled and hearing impaired will be the best in the country and these children deserve no less.
"It's not just for pupils at Kennet School but for those far and wide."
A statement by the agent to the application, Nightingale Associates, said: "The new building is intended to improve educational opportunities and facilities rather than providing additional space or increasing student numbers.
"In view of this, there is no intention to increase parking facilities or vehicular traffic on and around the site.
"There is a need to reorganise and improve the authority's hearing impaired provision for school aged children to be able to provide them with a suitable learning environment, to increase the numbers of hearing impaired students in West Berskhire's provision and reduce numbers of placements in independent and non maintained schools for the deaf.
"This provision has been agreed to be based in Kennet School alongside the Physically Disabled Resource provision."
