New Thatcham homes given go-ahead

Approval has been granted for nine houses and five flats in Bath Road

PLANS to demolish a building and build nine houses and five flats in its place have been approved by West Berkshire Council.

The plans, affecting land at 77 to 79 Bath Road, were passed by the district council on December 16 and were submitted by Ressance Ltd on behalf of Newbury-based Castle Street

Preservations Limited.

A statement by Ressance Ltd said: “The proposed development is situated in what is predominately a residential street scene which is broken by the current built form on the site.

“The submitted scheme aims to significantly enhance the site and street scene by re-establishing the residential frontage along Bath Road and also by replacing existing buildings on the north of the plot with residential dwellings, thereby keeping with the dominant layout in the locality.”

Thatcham Town Council raised no objections.
