New top cop for West Berkshire Local Police Area

Chief Insp Lindsey Finch replaces Chief Insp Judith Johnson as deputy commander

WEST Berkshire Local Police Area (LPA) has a new deputy commander.

She is Chief Insp Lindsey Finch, who replaces Chief Insp Judith Johnson, who has moved to a new role at Thames Valley Police force headquarters at Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

Most recently she worked as the Chief Inspector for Local Policing at Kidlington and has previously been the Commander for Wokingham LPA.

She has been a police officer for almost 20 years.

Chief Insp Finch said: “I am delighted to take up this post. I have always lived in Berkshire so I have a particular affiliation with the communities here. I learnt a lot in my previous role at headquarters about partnership working at a strategic level.

“I am looking forward to translating that to a local level. I really welcome the opportunity of getting to grips with a more operational and community based role, and continuing to build on the confidence that the public have in their local police service.”

She added: “There have been a lot of changes to the force in recent weeks and it is important that they incorporate well into our local policing plan. We need to ensure that we maintain delivery on LPA performance targets, enabling our resources to continue to work well as a team. This is already a particular strength in West Berkshire.

“My job is to work with our partners and communities to ensure that West Berkshire remains a safe place, whether you live, work or visit the area.”
