New website for Thatcham
Thatcham Vision launches community website
A NEW resource for people living in and around Thatcham has gone live today (Tuesday).
Thatcham Vision’s new website will help to inform and grow the volunteering effort in the community.
Thatcham Vision is run by volunteers who drew up a community plan for the town. The plan, adopted by Thatcham Town Council, identified 65 actions to help improve the lives of residents.
The website was one such action to provide a news feed, links to local clubs, weather and traffic.
Local non-political organisations are invited to apply for slots on the calendar and feature their meetings and events. There will also be links to partner groups, sponsors, local churches, parishes and clubs, and sister groups like Thatcham Sports Network and Thatcham Lifelong Learning can pick up their specialist areas.
Martin Cook of Thatcham Vision’s marketing team, said: “Our aim is to provide a reliable site where our community can find out what is going on in their area.
“We have active feeds from BBC Radio Berkshire on weather and travel, the Met Office on extreme weather and even one from the local cinema chain.
“But perhaps the core of the site is the calendar from our own action groups and any local groups providing news and events in our area. You’ll be able to click on today, or this month and see what is on, and where. We hope it is a site that everyone will want to bookmark and visit every day.”
The new site, www.thatchamvision.net has been designed for both mobile and fixed devices.
