New Year's Honours bestowed in West Berkshire
The principal of Churchend Primary School in Reading and a national leader of education, Kate Dethridge, who lives in Hampstead Norreys, was made a Dame for services to education.
In Newbury, chairwoman of the Newbury and Thatcham Neighbourhood Watch, Angela Money, was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to policing and community safety.
Professor of climate physics at Oxford University, Timothy Palmer was appointed the CBE for his services to science, while the chief technology officer of Jisc Technologies and executive director of Janet, Dr Robert Day was appointed an MBE for services to information technology.
Elsewhere, Athletics volunteer Jasmine Flatters, from Thatcham, was appointed an MBE for services to triathlon.
Mrs Flatters has worked in sports administration for over 25 years, both professionally and in a voluntary capacity.
And John Williams was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the community in Hungerford.
He was a town councillor for 45 years, mayor for five years, trustee of Town and Manor for 30 years, governor of John O’Gaunt School for 20 years, 15 of them as chairman.
His voluntary worked extended to Methodist Church deacon and stalwart, president of Hungerford branch of the Royal British Legion since 2004, founder of Hungerford Twinning Association, and in the past represented Hungerford Town Football Club and was President of Hungerford Cricket Club.
In 2013 he was awarded the Freedom of the Town of Hungerford.
Hampshire county councillor Keith Chapman has been made an MBE for services to arts and culture.
