Newbury 10k race raises £10k for Berkshire Youth




Newbury Athletic Club has donated £10,000 to a local charity following its Newbury 10k race.

Berkshire Youth was presented with a donation cheque at its Waterside Centre in Newbury after being chosen as the charity partner for the annual run.

This was Newbury Athletic Club’s 13th race after a four year hiatus.

The donation to Berkshire Youth will be increased even further after match funded by Vodafone.

The money will be spent on youth services which are designed to support, empower and inspire local young people in a number of ways.

Newbury Athletic Club treasurer Jeff Bird said: “The return of the Newbury 10k exceeded all our expectations – we received tremendous support from our sponsors, supporters and participants and it was fantastic to see the town buzzing and so many runners taking part.

“Newbury Athletic Club are delighted to be able to donate such a substantial amount to Berkshire Youth, and look forward to continuing to support the charity and others in the future.”

The Waterside Centre offers a variety of activities such as paddling, climbing and youth clubs.
