Newbury author's book under spotlight in Kingsclere
True life story of cancer battle
A NEWBURY author’s book will go under the spotlight at Kingsclere Community Library this evening (Wednesday).
Chris Page’s book Bright Lights and Fairy Dust: Matters of Life and Death, a true life story, revolves around the lives of Chris and his wife Linda – battling inoperable lung cancer.
Interwoven with information on her care and treatment, the story lays bare their love and devotion, sadness and despair, joy and hope.
“It reveals Linda’s determination and strength of spirit and tells of the power of love,” said Nicki Lee, a spokeswoman for the library.
Kingsclere Community Library remains open thanks to the hard work of volunteers.
In April last year, Hampshire County Council library services turned over the operation and funding of the branch library in the village to a volunteer team.
Since then more than 50 people from Kingsclere and the nearby villages have volunteered their time to keep the library open three days a week (Tuesday and Thursday, 1pm to 5.30pm, and Saturday, 9.30am to 2pm).
The talk starts at 7.30pm at the library in George Street.
Tickets cost £5 and include a glass of wine.
They are available from the library and online at EventBrite.
