West Berkshire band Beyond the Sons’ music video playing on Busted tour

A West Berkshire-based teen band’s music video is being played at the beginning of Busted’s tour shows.

Beyond the Sons have caught the eye of many notable rock stars from My Chemical Romance to Shinedown and now Busted.

The five-piece group come from Newbury, Thatcham, Cold Ash and Tadley and are one of the youngest bands in the country to book gigs at festivals and venues across the country.

They shot to stardom after they struck a chord with rock and roll giants Shinedown and My Chemical Romance on Twitter.

Since then they have been scooped up by Prestige Artist Management in a move that pleasantly surprised the boys and their families.

Prestige Artist Management manages British pop band The Vamps and pop-punk band Busted.

Busted started their 20th anniversary tour earlier this month and kicking off their greatest hits set at the start of every show is none other than Beyond the Sons.

‘Never Die’ one of Beyond the Son’s original songs, written and recorded in West Berkshire, plays at the start of every Busted show on this tour.

The boys got backstage before the show at the O2 on September 9 and got some pretty decent seats for the show.

To make matters even more exciting, they got the chance to meet the punk-trio at the afterparty.

“It was fantastic,” said 15-year-old drummer Albert Lister.

“We got to go backstage before the concert whilst they were setting up and got a tour of the 02.

“The highlight for me was meeting Eddy Thrower, one of my drumming idols which was amazing.

“He even signed my snare drum.”

Bass guitarist Hayden Horrix, 15, echoed his bandmates excitement and said: “We thought signing a management contract was exciting.

“But then getting the opportunity to get all access backstage to a sold-out concert at the O2 and seeing how a performance and soundcheck happen was just incredible.”

He said meeting the band was a once in a lifetime experience.

“I'm still trying to get my head round it all,” he added.

“I am so grateful that we've got this opportunity, I'm just hoping one day that we will take to a stage and crowd like that.”

Beyond the Sons are continuing to reach new heights, says manager and managing director of West Berkshire’s Let’s Play Rock Leo Westby, who oversaw their recent success and signing.

He said that Prestige Artist Management manager Richard Rashmond came to visit the boys recently at a band practice.

“He is really impressed to see how they are progressing,” Mr Westby said about the 75-year-old LA businessman.

“He heard their latest song and made no suggestions to change it.”

A more recent major rock artist to hail from Newbury and play in the same spaces as Beyond the Sons is Bring Me The Horizon’s Jordan Fish but it looks like these boys might be taking the throne.
