Newbury barber headed to Hong Kong to teach his trade

Mike Taylor, aged 38 and who has owned the Legends barber shop on Batholomew Street, Newbury, with his brother Jim since 1995, has been selected by the British Barbers Association (BBA) to train current barber staff at the 5* world renowned Mandarin Oriental Resort, Hong Kong, to the Association’s master barber status.
Mr Taylor, who has BBA master barber status and has been training barbers in the UK for eight years, will jet off to teach the week long workshop at the beginning of November with north London barber Sheriff Mehmet.
He said: “That’s what everyone wants to be, a master barber.
“This has been my trade since I left school, I love it.
“To get that recognised [that] they want me to go over to places as prestigious as Honk Kong, it’s like a dream come true.”
