Newbury barber shop looking for design-a-label collaboration
Bernie England who owns The Barber Lounge, The Arcade, wants to hear from anyone who is interested in designing labels for hair products which will then be prominently displayed at his business.
The shop, which doubles as an art gallery, is renowned for its eccentric and quirky street artwork and limited -edition prints.
Mr England, an avid art collector, is keen that the designs reflect the character of his shop.
He said: “The labels will be for two products – a moulding cream and shaping mud.
“The designs should be fun and creative and reflect a sense of my shop, so mainstream designs featuring pictures of hair products is not really what I’m after. If people want to come in and get a feel for the place to get some inspiration, that would be good.”
He added: “It’s a chance for someone to have their work printed up and used on products which get seen by a lot of people, so there will be plenty of exposure for the winner. I may even throw in a free haircut.”
Any design will be printed on a label 6.3cm in diameter.
Those interested in submitting designs, can do so via the shop’s facebook page or they can email it to
The deadline for entries to be received is November 7.
