Newbury basks in heatwave
Sun worshippers out in force as temperatures hit 32 degrees
SUN worshippers have been flocking to Newbury's parks and outdoor swimming pool to enjoy the hottest day of the year so far.
Temperatures have hit a scorching 32 degrees in the town this afternoon, hotter than Ibiza, Barcelona, Athens and Casablanca.
Some people are soaking up the rays in Victoria Park, while hundreds are topping up their tans and taking a refreshing dip at Northcroft Leisure Centre's popular outdoor lido.
Seventeen-year-old Ruby Hornsby, from Enborne Road, Newbury, was one of those at the poolside.
Speaking to NewburyToday, she said: "It is scorching, it's lovely just relaxing by the pool with my friends. We come here every year. I love it."
Karina Starling added: "It's unbelievably hot so it's nice to get in the pool and cool off in between sunbathing."
Tasif Ali, who was swimming with his six-year-old daughter Sofia, said: "It is lovely here. Sofia is really enjoying herself and splashing about."
