Newbury car blaze suspected arson
A CAR blaze in Newbury during the early hours of this morning (Saturday) was put down to a suspected arson.
According to the watch manager of Green Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Gary Yorke, one fire engine from Newbury Fire Station was called at 5.30am to Buckingham Road, where a V W Polo was on fire.
The car was completely damaged in the fire.
No-one was hurt and no property was damaged.
"It is being investigated as a suspected arson," said Mr Yorke.
A firefighter used breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
The incident was closed after about an hour.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman, Lucy Billen, said police were investigating a suspected arson in connection with this incident, reported to police at 5.40am, with no arrests.
