Newbury care home celebrates £400,000 refurbishment

Former mayor joins the party

Staff and residents of a Newbury care home have been celebrating a £400,000 refurbishment.

Former mayor of Newbury, Jo Day, joined residents and staff at the Bupa Argyles Nursing Home, in Pound Street, to celebrate the completion of refurbishment work.

The home has been redecorated throughout, including the lounge and dining area, complete with new furnishings. Residents’ rooms have also been redecorated, with new furnishings and carpets and the addition of en-suite wet rooms.

Colette New, home manager at Argyles, said staff were "Really pleased," she said to be able to offer better facilities and a smart new look for residents, while thanking all who lived and worked at the home for their support during "a bit of disruption" due to the improvement work and continued:

“The great news is that we’ve already had many positive comments about the new look from our residents and their families.”

We’re grateful to the mayor and everyone else who helped us to mark the big day – we were delighted so many friends and local people were able to join us to share our celebrations.”

Argyles Nursing Home provides nursing, convalescence, palliative and respite care as well as specialist care for people living with Parkinson’s and Huntington’s.
