Newbury children's nursery voted among top ten in South East

The Abacus Day Nursery and pre-school, Oxford Road, was voted a Top 10 Nursery in the South East by daynurseries.co.uk for 2014.
The accolade came after recommendations received from parents and relatives whose children attend the nurseries listed, with Abacus receiving an outstanding score of 9.8 out of 10.
Last Tuesday, a group of 13 children from the nursery pulled on their raincoats and wellingtons to walk to Willows Edge Care Home, Hutton Close, Newbury, to present a harvest festival feast of goodies they had collected to residents of the care home.
The children also regaled them with harvest festival songs, Oats and Beans and Five Little Peas, along with traditional nursery songs including Baa Baa Black Sheep and a new one… Baa Baa Pink Sheep.
Sam, aged three, said: “We sang to the older people”, and Maisie, aged three, said: “They really enjoyed it.”
The assistant deputy manager/pre-school room supervisor Lisa Barrett said, “It was really good fun preparing for this occasion, and so nice to see the two generations enjoying each other’s company.”
