Churches to hold week of prayer for West Berkshire starting from Sunday
Churches are to hold a week of prayer, featuring special services reflecting on different ways in which the congregations help West Berkshire communities.
The event, organised by Churches Together Newbury Area, launches on Sunday, September 8, with an evening service held at St Nicolas in West Mills.
Rector, the Revd Will Hunter Smart, will lead the time of worship and prayer, lasting an hour and starting at 6pm.
Different churches will then host events across the course of the week, including The Well in Thatcham on Monday, September 9, and Newbury Methodist Church on Thursday, September 12, both at 7.30pm.
An introduction to a style of Bible reading, Lectio Divina, will be given at St Mary’s Church in Shaw from 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 11.
Earlier in the day, starting at 12.30pm, The Potters Cabin on Pigeons Farm Road in Greenham will be the venue for an hour reflecting on the work of community organisations including the Bus of Hope, Street Pastors, and Loose Ends.
The week ends on Saturday, September 14 with a prayer walk, starting from St Nicolas.
