Newbury College rewards its apprenticeship stars
Newbury College highlighted some outstanding examples of excellence with its annual Apprenticeship Awards during National Apprenticeship Week last month.
The winners were announced during the week on the Newbury College and University Centre Newbury social media channels alongside videos and interviews with employers and apprentices, showcasing how they benefit from utilising apprenticeships to progress their businesses and careers.
The winners were:
Best Apprentice in a Small Business – Ben Anidjah, Run3D
Employer Recognition Award (Small Business) – Aligra
Best Development Coach – Jude Buckell, Newbury College
Best Apprentice in a Medium Business – Nina Clay, Rocking Horse Nursery
Employer Recognition Award (Medium Business) – Rocking Horse Nursery
Best Workplace Mentor – Shaun Hibberd, Pall Europe
Employer Recognition Award (Large Business) – Thames Water
Best Apprentice in a Large Business – Joseph Booker, Kerridge Commercial Systems
Best Tutor – Chris Bidgood, University Centre Newbury
Special Award: Recognising Peer Support – Lewis Lovelock, Scotlands Ash Garage
Newbury College director of business and partnerships Dr Jo Houghton said: "Apprenticeships are key to driving fresh talent acquisition and provide a means for levy-paying companies to access funds and upskill their workforce.
"I have been personally involved in reading and evaluating all of the nominations this year, and I have been extremely impressed hearing about the contributions our apprentices and their employers are making to our local, and in many cases the regional or national, economy.
"With opportunities spanning a wide range of industries and going up to degree level, there is no better time to build the future with apprenticeships."
