West Berkshire, and in particular Kate Middleton’s former home village of Bucklebury, led the national celebrations when news broke that the duchess had given birth to the future king of England eight weeks ago.
Addressing a full council meeting on Monday evening, the mayor of Newbury, Anthony Pick said: “The council wished to pass on our congratulations on behalf of ourselves and the people of Newbury.
“A courteous reply has been received from the palace.”
