Newbury family's superhuman effort at Bayer 10k
Father and son 'Avengers' raise money for military charity
TWO of ‘Earth’s mightiest heroes’ have raised money for an armed forces charity at Newbury’s Bayer 10k run.
Newbury man Dan Lagoy ran the 10k race dressed as Captain America for the third year running and was joined for the first time by his son Jamie donned as Iron Man; both finishing the run in one hour and 15 minutes.
The two ‘Avengers’ were supported by Mr Lagoy’s wife, Anne-Marie, and daughter Nicole alongside Jamie’s girlfriend Ana Andrade who raised £330.81 for Help for Heroes during a street collection held in the Market Place and Northbrook Street during the race.
Mr Lagoy said: “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this and especially to Help for Heroes for allowing me to run on their behalf and to West Berkshire Council for approving the street collection licence. Thank you.”
The Lagoys were among thousands of runners, many of whom raising money for their own chosen causes, participating in the annual event.
