According to Chris Cound, the crew manager of Blue Watch at Newbury Fire Station, two pumps were called at 10.30pm to the A339 at the junction with the A34, southbound, after a Ford Mondeo had flipped onto its roof.
The male driver, the only occupant, had got out of the vehicle unaided when firefighters arrived.
One of the fire engines was returned to the station by Mr Cound, after he ascertained two pumps would not be needed at the scene.
Firefighters made the vehicle safe and left the scene after twenty minutes
