Newbury Red Watch based at Newbury Fire Station on Hawthorn Road receive Watch of the Year Award at the 2024 Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service Awards




A group of Newbury firefighters have been named the best in the county at this year’s Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) Awards.

Newbury Red Watch based at Newbury Fire Station on Hawthorn Road received the Watch of the Year Award for “showing continuous improvement and development whilst building a strong and diverse team and ultimately reducing risk in their local area”.

The awards evening took place at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Reading on Friday, November 29, and Newbury Red Watch were among the many deserving award winners who were recognised for their exceptional work serving the public over the past 12 months.

West Berkshire Council leader and Royal Berkshire Fire Authority Jeff Brooks said: “It was a very special evening which enabled us to recognise RBFRS’ achievements and people.

“This event provides an opportunity for us to thank people on behalf of residents’ right across Berkshire for the exceptional work that they do.

“Whether frontline staff delivering services to the public, members of support departments who enable them to do so, volunteers, colleagues from partner organisations, or members of the public – every day, unbelievable acts of professionalism, bravery and selfless commitment to public service are happening.”
