Newbury firm breaks world record

Jokers' Masquerade has broken the world record for organising the largest gathering of skeletons

A NEWBURY fancy dress company now has two world records to its name after a successful attempt at organising the largest gathering of skeletons at the weekend.

Jokers' Masquerade, based at Union House, Kennet Side, broke the record by supplying Swansea University students with skeleton costumes and accessories at a party in the Wales city on Saturday night.

At 11.30pm representatives from the Guinness World Records confirmed Jokers' Masquerade had become the new holder for the largest gathering of skeletons with a staggering 2,018, obliterating the previous record of 197, set by The Paul O'Grady Show in 2009.

The Newbury firm also broke a world record for organising the largest gathering of Smurfs in 2009.

That successful attempt was also held in conjunction with Swansea University and saw 2,510 people dressed as smurfs gather at the Oceana Nightclub in the city.
