Newbury firm proud of role in award winning film
The box office hit 'We Need to Talk about Kevin' was finished using the Pablo systems designed by Quantel
A DIRECTOR from Newbury technology firm Quantel has said he is proud of the company's involvement in a film that won a prestigious award at the recent 2011 London Film Festival.
Lynne Ramsay's ‘We Need to Talk about Kevin', which was finished using the Pablo systems designed and built by Quantel, in Turnpike Road, was awarded the coveted Best Film Award at the festival.
The film has been a box office hit and Quantel's director of marketing, Steve Owen, said: “We're very proud that Quantel technology has once again helped to produce an outstanding, award-winning film.”
Expert colourist Stuart Fyvie, who used the Pablo system in the production of the film, said: “On the Pablo I could offer ideas and treatments that the DoP and director had not yet considered.
He said the high quality processing provided by the Pablo system ensured the final look matched the director's ideas exactly and added: “The bonus comes when you read about how good the cinematography is on a film - then you really know you've done a good job.”
The Pablo system has previously been used in the finishing other box office hit films, including Avatar and The Social Network, which enjoyed success at the British Academy Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards and the Oscars.
