Newbury Food Festival returns this weekend
NEWBURY will be transformed into a food lover’s paradise this weekend as the town’s popular food festival makes its return.
Over 50 traders will gather on Northbrook Street and Bartholomew Street on Saturday and Sunday to sell a range of mouth-watering produce and cuisines from all over the world.
The event – run in partnership with the Newbury BID, was first introduced in the Market Square last June and proved so popular that organisers came back for a second bite last October.
The festival is free to the public and features attractions for all the family with a diversity of food and drink representing the best of local produce and producers.
On Saturday, the renowned Military Wives Choir will be performing on a live stage.
On Sunday a new event will be introduced – with 12 people competing in a chilli eating competition.
Contestants will be provided with a bucket and milk as they attempt to eat their way through seven different chillies – with each one hotter than the last.
The last person standing will then be awarded with a prize.
Hundreds of people attended the event last year. A date has already been set for the next festival, the weekend commencing November 1.
