Newbury girl receives Christmas treat from a Duchess
Charlotte and other young people who visit the children’s and young adults’ hospice Helen & Douglas House, Oxford, travelled to London last Thursday with their families and spent several hours decorating the Christmas tree and enjoying a delicious lunch of sausage and mash, served by the duchess herself.
It is the sixth year the duchess has invited families from Helen & Douglas House to Clarence House.
The chief operating officer at Helen & Douglas House, Clare Edwards, said: “It’s such a unique day, so special and it is a real privilege to have the duchess as our patron, as she takes such an interest in the work we do.”
Helen & Douglas House relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to be able to offer specialist care for children and young adults, from birth to 35, from across the region, and support for their families.
