Newbury Harley-Davidson accident victim named
John Dickenson, aged 48, was driving a Harley-Davidson with his wife as a passenger when they were involved in the single vehicle collision on the A30.
The incident occured half a mile east of Stowford Cross in the eastbound carriageway at approximately 2:40pm on Sunday, August 26.
Mr Dickenson was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed his wife was being treated for serious injuries, which are said to be not life threatening, at Derriford hospital, Plymouth.
The road was closed for six hours whilst a forensic examination of the scene was completed and the road was cleaned by the Highways Agency, causing five mile tailbacks into the evening.
The motorcyclist was in company with a group of friends at the time of the collision.
Police are thanking the numerous members of the public who stopped to administer first aid and are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
