Reading Magistrates’ Court: Newbury home burglar locked up
A THIEF whose offending escalated to house burglary has been locked up.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 22, was Andrew Gainey.
The 35-year-old, of North Way, Newbury, pictured in 2016, has more than 50 convictions and has previously been made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from Newbury Retail Park.
A previous spell in prison did not stop his relentless offending and he has repeatedly clashed with magistrates, shouting and swearing at them and refusing to pay costs.
On Monday he admitted burgling a home in Stanley Road, Newbury, with intent to steal therein on March 8 last year.
Mr Gainey further admitted stealing a pair of sunglasses, a torch and a key from a motor vehicle belonging to Victoria Mansfield.
Thirdley, he pleaded guilty to stealing goods worth £26.50 from a motor vehicle belonging to Paul Smith.
Both those offences were committed in Newbury between March 6 and March 8 last year.
District judge Samuel Goozee sent all three matters to be sentenced by a judge sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
He meanwhile refused to grant Mr Gainey bail and remanded him in custory.
