Newbury man completes seven challenges in seven days for charity

Colin Lee of Rectory Close finished his seven challenges on Saturday with a 30 mile run through Hampshire
The father-of-two’s first challenge was the Clarendon Marathon on October 7 (pictured top right).
This was followed by the first 70 miles of the South Downs Way cycle on

October 8, the final 30 miles of the South Downs Way cycle on October 9, a 20 mile canoe from Shillingford to Reading on October 10, a run from Wallingford to Newbury on Thursday and 2.8 mile swim from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier on Friday (pictured middle right).
“The pier to pier swim on Friday was the hardest for me by far,” the 43-year-old said. “Due to the waves only three of the six managed to complete it. I was the last of the three finishers, taking three hours to complete it.
“I would never have completed the swim without the help and company of the team, particularly my friend Mike Phillips, who had already finished but came back in the water to help me over the last 400 metres.
“The final day on Saturday was a great run along the Wayfarers Way, again taking about five and a half hours, with the company of a good few friends joining me at various times.”
Incredibly this is not the first time Mr Lee has undertaken a series of gruelling tasks; last year he raised more than £1,500 for charity after completing six ultramarathons in a week.
This year he has raised nearly £600 for Naomi House Hospice in Hampshire.
