Newbury man gets ready to scale the Four Peaks

Luke Wyndham, pictured left, a 41-year-old area sales manager for optical manufacturing company Topcon, in Bone Lane, will be raising funds for international charity Vision Aid Overseas by tackling the mountain ranges of Bolivia, which will see him climb peaks spanning more than 21,000 feet.
Mr Wyndham is spending up to six days a week training for the challenge, using a combination of exercises to build core strength and power, including regular trips to indoor climbing centres.
He said: “It’s a huge undertaking but I am extremely excited about developing my climbing skills and taking part in this adventure. It’s a massive challenge but one I will relish.
“I’m proud to be involved with such an inspirational charity.
“I hope to raise as much money as possible for Vision Aid Overseas.”
Mr Wyndham’s 22-day expedition starts in La Paz, Bolivia, on July 11, culminating in the summit of Illimani, 19 days later.
Vision Aid Overseas is an international development charity, set up in 1985 by a group of optometrists and dispensing opticians.
Since establishing the first clinic in Tanzania, the charity has gone on to help more than a million patients in 26 countries.
In addition to Vision Aid Overseas, Mr Wyndham is also fundraising on behalf of Optometry Giving Sight.
