Newbury man's mountain challenge
Ravi Manthena is to trek to the highest point in north Africa this week to raise money for Caudwell Children
A NEWBURY man is to trek to the highest point in north Africa to raise charity funds this week.
Ravi Manthena, of Windsor Court, is to undergo a six day trek, starting tomorrow (Tuesday) to Mount Toubkal in Morocco, with the goal of climbing it in two days.
He aims to raise awareness of children with brain injuries and Cerebral Palsy and funds for the charity, Caudwell Children, which has supported his daughter, three-year-old Sahithi Sai Manthena, who has Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.
“My daughter suffered hypoxic brain injury during birth at Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. We do a lot of different therapies with her including Advance therapy based at East Grinstead,” said Mr Manthena, adding that this therapy had been paid for by the charity.
“This helped us immensely with our finances,” he said.
His employer, Alfresco Software Ltd, Maidenhead, have sponsored his trip and just over £1,000 has been raised so far on his Just Giving website page, which can be accessed by clicking the link below.
