But it also highlighted the ongoing challenges the the non-profit community hub faces in securing sustainable funding to address increasing need.

During his visit at Newbury library, Mr Dillon met visitors and volunteers in the Chatty Corner, a space designated to language practice, as well as the free community café.

He also spent time with the Knit and Natter group, where members share crafting skills, and the Parent Village, a supportive network for parents navigating family life, will lose its funding this July.

Reflecting on his visit, he said: “Educafe is so much more than a café; it’s a lifeline and a thriving community.

“It’s a place where people from all backgrounds come together, finding friendship, support and a sense of belonging.

“The dedication of its volunteers and team is inspiring. This is community at its very best compassionate, inclusive and life changing.”

Educafe co-founder and director Clare Middleton added: “We were pleased for Lee to see the real impact we're making to people’s lives, often the most disadvantaged and underserved communities.

“Our visitors, team and volunteers always welcome the chance to share their experiences”

“We hope his visit will help raise awareness of the importance of long-term, sustainable funding for organisations like ours, ensuring we can continue to inject community resilience and social health into West Berkshire and beyond.”
