Newbury musicians have two weeks to enter Rock at the Racecourse

Local musicians have until Friday, April 13, to enter Rock at the Racecourse and stand to win a cash prize and a day in a recording studio.
The event is being organised by Greenham Common Trust in partnership with Berkshire Maestros, Newbury Rock School and the Newbury Weekly News.
If you are aged under 30 and in a band, are a singer songwriter or perform in a duet please send a video of you performing to julian@greenham-common-trust.co.uk along with a 150-word profile of yourselves and a high resolution photograph.
The judging panel will shortlist seven acts to go through to the final at Newbury Racecourse on Friday, June 29, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
In May the shortlisted bands will be announced here on Newburytoday.co.uk and in our sister newspaper the Newbury Weekly News, where the public will get a chance to vote for their favourite act. These votes will count towards the final vote on the night.
The winner will receive £500 and a day in Studio 91, New Greenham Park, the runner up will win £300 and third prize is £200.
Budding music journalists can produce the programme for the final – interview the shortlisted bands, take photographs and design the programme. Anybody with video experience is also welcome to film the final and produce a DVD.
Greenham Common Trust spokesman Julian May said: “We want to encourage the diverse local musical talent we have here in West Berkshire and North Hampshire and we hope Rock at the Racecourse will be the start of something exciting. Good luck with your entries.”
