Newbury named 'Racecourse of the Year'

Members of the Racehorse Owners' Association have voted Newbury Racecourse for the award again this year

NEWBURY Racecourse has been named ‘Racecourse of the Year' by the Racehorse Owners' Association (ROA).

Members of the ROA voted the racecourse for the award – the seventh time in eight years that the venue has been chosen.

Joint managing director of Newbury Racecourse, Stephen Higgins, said: “Newbury is honoured to be recognised as the ‘Racecourse of the Year' once again and we would also like to congratulate Ascot, Sandown and York for also being shortlisted.

"The vote is down to ROA members and their experiences at all racecourses and the award is a true reflection of what a great venue Newbury is and the dedication of the entire team and we are very grateful to the ROA and its members for voting for us.”

Newbury MP, Richard Benyon, has also congratulated the racecourse on winning the award again.

He said: “Newbury provides a fantastic experience for racegoers of all ages.

“It is a huge asset to our town, playing an integral part in our local economy and in the future prosperity of this area.”
