Newbury Parkrun celebrates first anniversary today (Sat)
Since Newbury Parkrun was established on February 12, 2012, more than 2,500 runners have crossed its finish line, and more than 11,000 runs have been completed.
To mark the event, today's run will kick-start with an awards ceremony to the male, female and junior winners and runners up of the annual points competition, which are accumulated throughout the year.
There will also be a presentation to mark the 'volunteers of the year'.
New runners are welcome at the free event, but must register beforehand at www.parkrun.org.uk/newbury and print out a bar code to bring with them.
Event director for Newbury Parkrun, Rachael Elliott said: "I'm really looking forward to it, it has been a year and a lot has happened in a year."
Free cakes will be provided to participants after the run, in celebration of its first anniversary.
The awards will be presented at 8:30am, with the run commencing shortly after 9am.
Runners are advised to park in the Venture West car park on the New Greenham Business Park.
