Newbury police station to mark 50th anniversary next month

Former staff urged to get involved in celebration

Newbury police station will be marking 50 years since its opening next month with former employees urged to get involved.

The celebration will be about the police personnel who have served the community in the area as much as the continuity of the building.

Coordinator of the event Inspector Mark Tucker of Newbury police station said: "We felt we couldn't let the anniversary pass by without marking it in a way that recognises the wide variety of public service which has been provided by the many officers and staff that have been based at the station over the years.

"Senior officers along with local dignitaries are being invited to the event which will provide an opportunity for staff to meet serving and retired colleagues from all ranks and roles, take a trip down memory lane and discuss how policing methods and equipment have changed over the years.

"If you worked for Thames Valley Police or the old Berkshire Constabulary based at Newbury police station on or around the official opening date of April 22 1966 and would like to be considered to attend the event on the evening of Friday, April 22, please email: NewburyStation50thAnniversary@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk
