Watch manager of Red Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Bob Mitchell, said two pumps were called at 10.51am to the Narrow Boat Pub, in London Road, as staff were preparing to open.
“Water had leaked through the ceiling following the rain, causing the electrics to short circuit and damaging the electrical insulation,” said Mr Mitchell.
Three consumer units were damaged, with damage to the electrical insulation and the building affected by smoke.
Firefighters isolated the electric supply before leaving the scene at 2pm.
