Newbury MP Laura Farris’s 2023 Christmas card winner is Newbury pupil
A Newbury pupil has been chosen as the winning designer for Newbury MP Laura Farris’s 2023 Christmas cards.
The winning design, which is featured on Mrs Farris’s official Christmas card this year, was by Angie Liu Ngai Ching, aged 11, from Speenhamland Primary School.
Announcing the winner, Mrs Farris said: “Thank you to all the children across West Berkshire who entered my Christmas card competition this year.
“I loved Angie’s colourful design and the Prime Minister was equally impressed when I gave him the card.
“Choosing the winner from so many creative designs was not an easy task and a special mention goes to the fantastic runners up, Zahra Najayi at Thatcham Park C of E Primary School and Poppy Rumens at Chieveley Primary School, whose designs feature on the back of the card.”
Mrs Farris visited Speenhamland Primary School last Friday to meet Angie and present her with her prize.
Headteacher Julie Lewry said: “We were absolutely ecstatic when we received the news from Laura Farris that Angie was the winner of the Christmas card competition. Angie is such a creative pupil and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
“It is lovely that Speenhamland School is being represented in West Berkshire and Angie's Christmas card will be seen by our Prime Minister – we are immensely proud!”
Angie added: “I feel so famous as my Christmas card will be representing West Berkshire and the Prime Minister will see it!”
Mrs Farris’s official Christmas card is sent to people and organisations across West Berkshire as well as Members of Parliament and is printed at no expense to the taxpayer
