Newbury pupils to appear on Olympic poster
Park House School, Newbury, pupils entered the ‘Get Set to get Creative’ Olympic Games 2012 poster competition, with the aim of redesigning the Olympic Rings.
The school’s photography pupils used a number of different long shutter speeds and light trails to take the image, which features Adam Musitano, Stephen Cox, Steph Tu, Jade Hicks, and Ana Marques
Head of art at Park House, Lamorna Waddell said: “The students had loads of amazing ideas, such as five coloured stunt kites flying in rings; students with coloured hula hoops; circles of tulip bulbs being planted, but because of a tight timescale we decided that a photographic solution would be the best.
“Coloured torches were moved in circles to create the rings exposed on long shutter speeds, then different students were asked to pose with sporting equipment and a second batch of photographs was taken. These images were then combined in Photoshop to give this amazing result.”
Year 10 pupil, Adam Musitano added: “I was really interested in the technical processes involved in taking the photographs and have used this idea of sequences in my current AS photography work.”
