Newbury has been recognised as a top filming location in a recent study

Have you ever wondered where TV’s most popular shows are filmed and where you can visit them in real life?

Well, you’re living in one of the highest ranked places!

Newbury came seventh after the survey looked at the UK’s 30 most popular TV shows.

The study, conducted by OLGB, looked at varying factors including average review scores on movie websites IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes for shows in the area and how popular each location was for fans of the shows.

Shows based in Newbury and surrounding local areas scored 8.7 out of 10 on average on IMDb and 94 out of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes for the audience score.

Each year Newbury gets searched as a film location almost 1.5 million times.

So, which shows are bringing us national fame?

With The Great British Bake-off filmed in Welford Park and Downton Abbey filmed at Highclere Castle, it’s safe to say these shows must be adding to Newbury’s high ranking.

Not forgetting the shelters at Greenham Common which have been used for filming Star Wars, Fast & Furious 9, an episode of Top Gear and more.

Perhaps lesser known, the quidditch world cup in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, had scenes shot in Ashridge Woods near Beedon.
