Newbury Real Ale Festival set for return to Northcroft Park

Newbury's beer festival will return to the town this September after being postponed due to the pandemic.

The Newbury Real Ale Festival will take place on Saturday, September 11, at Northcroft Park, where more than 200 ales and ciders will be available. There will also be a gin stall and food vendors, as well as live music.

The biggest one-day beer festival in the South of England will be advance tickets only to ensure social distancing and is sponsored by Newbury-based marketing agency Fusion Group and other local firms.

Director of Fusion Group and one of the organisers, David Whittingham, said: “Having had to reluctantly cancel last year’s festival due to the pandemic, we are delighted to be able to welcome everyone back in 2021.

“We are working in partnership with West Berkshire Council’s Public Protection Partnership to ensure that everyone can enjoy themselves in a suitable environment.

“We can’t wait to see the ale festival back, better than ever, for its 17th birthday and after the last year, can’t wait to see everyone enjoying themselves again.”

The event is also organised with the help of Newbury and Thatcham Hockey Club.

The club’s chairman Vinny Butler said: “Bringing the festival back up and running is a sign of the strength and depth of the community spirit in Newbury and the surrounding area. Our team of volunteers are looking forward to the smiles and laughter that being part of the event brings.”

Proceeds from the festival will go to the charities Sport in Mind and Daisy’s Dream and a full refund will be offered if it is cancelled due to Government Covid restrictions.
