Newbury remembers HMS Tigris

A parade of standard bearers from the local Submariners Association, Royal Naval Association and the Royal British Legion will escort the mayor of Newbury, Arthur Johnson, to the church to join relatives of the 63 crew who died when the Tigris was sunk on its way to Algiers in 1943.
Chairman of the Local Submariners Association, Bob McGuinness said that although all military losses were important to be remembered, the loss of the Tigris was special to Newbury because of the amount of money that was donated by residents.
All are welcome to attend the service.
