Newbury Town Council encourages residents to pay respects at War Memorial for 80th anniversary of D-Day
Newbury Town Council is inviting residents to lay summer posies at Newbury War Memorial in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Residents are welcome to place their posies at War Memorial, in Bartholomew Street, from June 5 in a display of community reflection and solidarity.
And the Town Council is also supporting the events taking place at Greenham Control Tower.
Please visit https://www.greenhamtower.org.uk/events/80th-anniversary-of-d-day-at-greenham-control-tower for more information.
A free shuttle bus service has been arranged by Newbury Town Council to transport guests from Newbury to the Control Tower for both events.
The Normandy landings commenced on June 6, 1944, and marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe.
