Boundary Road and Kings Road to shut tonight for roadworks in Newbury, as Bartholomew Street remains closed to traffic too

Two Newbury roads are due to be shut tonight (Monday) for further roadworks.

Both Kings Road and Boundary Road will be shut at various points between 7pm tonight and 7am tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Kings Road closure will be between the junctions of Boundary Road and Hectors Way.

It is in place to allow Volker Highways to carry out highway improvement works including the installation of a zebra crossing and surfacing works.

Traffic will be able to travel two-ways down the usually one-way street - between its junction with Hectors Way and property 132 - to allow access during the closure.

At the same time roadworks are also planned on Boundary Road, although West Berkshire Council has said the two road will not be closed at the same time.

The closure order is again in place on this road between 7pm tonight and 7am tomorrow (Tuesday).

This closure will be between the junctions of Kings Road and Racecourse Road and is to enable Volker Highways to carry out various works including lining works for the new road opening.

Residential access will be maintained throughout the closures.

Elsewhere in Newbury, Bartholomew Street remains closed throughout August.

The closure is in place to allow for block paving works to be carried out outside St Nicolas church and up to the start of Bridge Street and Mansion House Street, outside Barclays Bank and Gail’s. It means Northbrook Street is also closed to traffic throughout the school summer holiday.

The roads were closed on Monday (July 29) and are not expected to reopen until September 7.

A signed diversion is in place, which takes motorists along the A339 and access for residents will be maintained.
